API Wizard Code Overview

API Wizard has three distinct types of code:

1. Server code - the API Wizard 'engine' which is used for all API Wizard processing
2. Functional processes - these are the individual processes for data entry and update, such as Inventory Items, Suppliers, Orders, etc.
3. Client - This is the Excel Addin which provides the User Interface to API Wizard

All customers should move to the latest version of API Wizard at their earliest convenience.  The latest version offers maximum compatibility, updates for Oracle security, and new features.  For information on upgrading to the latest version of API Wizard, please see the following article:

1. Server Code Compatibility

a) API Wizard Server Code Compatibility for Oracle Database Version:

API Wizard is compatible with Oracle database versions 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c, and 19c.  As Oracle certifies EBS with later versions of their database, API Wizard will likewise add support for its products.  The table below identifies the versions of API Wizard that are compatible with each version of the Oracle database:

b) API Wizard Server Code Compatibility for Oracle EBS Version:

API Wizard server code is compatible with Oracle database versions 11i and R12.  The table below identifies the versions of API Wizard that are compatible with each version of Oracle EBS:

There are no API Wizard patches when moving from 11i to R12 or from any version of R12 to the latest version of R12.  Having said that, please note that sometimes a database upgrade is done at the same time as an EBS upgrade.  If that's the case, please check the database compatibility above.

2. Functional Processes Code Compatibility

a) Compatibility when moving from one version of R12 to another

There are no changes to functional processes required when moving from one version of R12 to another.

b) Compatibility when moving from 11i to R12.

Some Oracle APIs have changed between 11i and R12.  If moving from 11i to R12, please send a list of API Wizard processes in use to API Wizard support so that we can provide the R12 version of those processes.  Also, please note that there are many more APIs in R12 (such as supplier entry / maintenance), so this is a good opportunity to use API Wizard in additional ways.
